BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The race for the White House is heating up as we get closer to the April 19 New York primary. Both Bill and Hillary Clinton will be making campaign stops in Western New York this week.
The former President will be here today. He will speak at the Grapevine Banquets Center in Depew at 2:30pm.
2 On Your Side spoke with the Erie County Democratic Committee chair about what we can expect from both visits.
"We're excited for tomorrow. It's a big week to be an Erie County Democrat," says Jeremy Zellner.
Zellner is ready for a busy week. Former President Bill Clinton will be in Depew Tuesday afternoon campaigning on behalf of his wife at the Grapevine Banquet facility where ballrooms can accommodate hundreds.
Supporters are asked to sign up ahead of time online for the town hall rally.
"It is going to be an overflow crowd. It is already over capacity, I think, but if they wanted to show up, I'm sure they can as long as they come and show ID or just come and sign in. They're more than welcome," says Zellner.
And Hillary Clinton will be in Buffalo Friday, but details about her visit have not been released.
"In the City of Buffalo, we will find the best venue that fits what we're doing. There are a lot of different choices. The campaign is working on all of them, but we only have a short amount of time to work with it, so we'll get the best place," said Zellner.
A reporter at the NBC affiliate in Albany tweeted a photo of the gym Hillary Clinton spoke at Monday in the Capital Region, saying a select few supporters had been let in early on. The rest were waiting to go through security.
And the former Albany mayor told WNYT more than five-thousand people RSPV'd, but the gym's capacity was only two-thousand. So, how will the events be handled here?
"Tomorrow is bigger than we expected it to be. We're expecting Friday to be a lot bigger than we thought it would originally be. And I assume we're going to have a signup, an email signup again, a link for people that would like to attend to sign up for," said Zellner.
Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have agreed to debate in Brooklyn on Thursday, April 14.
