Robert Trigg was cautioned for assaulting a woman he dated in 2003. Then, in 2006, his girlfriend Caroline Devlin was found dead in her bed. He went on to be cautioned for assaulting another girlfriend, Susan Nicholson, and yet, when Nicholson was found dead in 2011, after a night spent with Trigg, the police concluded her death was not suspicious.
