The percentage of intensely segregated schools —defined as those where less than 10% of the student body is white — tripled between 1988 and 2016, from 6 to 18%, according to a new report from UCLA and Penn State.
In a multiracial America, school segregation looks very different than it did in 1954, when the Supreme Court ruled in Brown v. Board of Education. But it still persists.
